As a wedding calligrapher, I have the unique privilege of adding a touch of handcrafted charm to one of the most special days in a couple’s life. Recently, I had the delightful opportunity to work with Maura and Lucas for their exquisite wedding at City Winery in Hudson Valley. Today, I’m thrilled to share with you the magical pieces we brought to life, sharing their love story in ink and paper with all of their guests on their wedding day!
Your vows are not just words spoken on the day but a promise you’ll want to remember forever. I designed their personalized vow books in a classic black and white theme, adorned with touches of gold writing. These books are one of my favorite things to create because they truly are a keepsake they will cherish forever, reminding them of the promises made and the unbreakable bond they share! Reading vows from a beautifully crafted book adds a level of emotional depth to the ceremony. It can make the moment feel even more heartfelt and sincere.
Upon entering the beautiful City Winery, guests were greeted by a stunning mirror welcome sign, elegantly inscribed with a welcoming note. But here’s the charm – this piece wasn’t just for the ceremony; it found its place at the reception too! Repurposing wedding items like this not only adds a touch of continuity to your wedding but also speaks volumes about being economically and environmentally savvy. It’s a choice that saves money and reduces waste, making your special day not just beautiful but also responsible! Head here for more ways to repurpose your wedding decor!
Imagine walking into a reception and finding your seat not on a standard chart but on a variety of vases, each with gorgeous flowers and your name elegantly written in calligraphy. That’s exactly what I did for Maura and Lucas! This 3D seating chart display was a garden of creativity, with each vase holding a bouquet of flowers. The guest names were expertly written on each, guiding them to their tables. It was more than a seating chart; it was a piece of art, creating an immersive, floral experience for everyone. It was one of my favorite elements from the entire day.
Personalized calligraphy table numbers always add an extra layer of elegance to the table settings. These intricately designed numbers did more than serve a functional purpose; they were a reflection of the couple’s unique style and commitment to creating an immersive experience for their guests. Each table, adorned with these bespoke yet minimal pieces, became a part of the larger, beautiful tapestry that made their wedding day so uniquely them.
This is what I’ve become known for! Imagine the guests’ faces lighting up with delight as they spotted an adorable element in the wedding décor – the bride and groom’s beloved dog, beautifully incorporated into the setting! This is where my personal touch comes into play: I always draw the personalized elements myself, and Maura and Lucas’s wedding at City Winery was no exception. For the signature cocktail sign, I hand-drew a charming representation of their furry friend. Signature cocktail signs are one of my favorite things to pour into, as I love how it can be a subtle surprise in the decor, and yet still something almost every single guest will see on your wedding day.
Maura and Lucas’s wedding at City Winery was a true representation of what I love about being a wedding calligrapher – the chance to be a part of creating something so beautiful and meaningful. As they step into this new chapter of their lives, the calligraphy pieces we created together will remain a tangible reminder of the love, joy, and beauty that marked the beginning of their forever. If you’re in the midst of planning a wedding in Jersey City, and looking for ways to personalize your wedding, I’d be honored to hear from you.
