December 20, 2022
As I wrap up my 2022 projects and start to stare at my 2023 calendar, I’m in absolute awe. I worked with some absolutely incredible couples over the last year and it looks like 2023 will be one and the same. Before I dive into the 2023 wedding trends I love, if you are looking for a wedding calligrapher and already know you want to work together, head straight to my contact form because dates are booking quickly. Although I really don’t try to “follow” trends necessarily (I love to create timeless and unique pieces for each of my couples), there are some trends I’m seeing for 2023 that I can definitely get excited about! After you’ve gone through the list, DM me on Instagram and let me know favorite is. I’m curious!
Okay, now let’s get into it!
Personally, I love a classic wedding color palette of white florals and greenery, but we have been seeing it a lot lately. In 2023, I am seeing couples drawn to brighter and bolder colors, and for 2023, I think we will be seeing a lot of RED! Pantone recently announced their color of the year for 2023 as Viva Magenta and I’m excited to see how couples bring it to life in their wedding decor!
As a wedding calligrapher, one of the biggest trends I’m seeing is the emphasis on as many personal touches as possible. I’m obviously here for it! While place cards used to be something that would only see at formal weddings, more and more couples are taking the opportunity to create something beautiful and personalized for their guests to find their seats. While place cards on their own are always beautiful, I’m also seeing couples double these personalized details as favors!
It’s not enough for your seating chart to be beautiful (actually, it is, but that’s a story for another post!). In 2023 weddings, I am seeing couples who want their seating chart or escort card display to be a full on immersive experience for their guests. Wedding signage is getting 3-Dimensional. If this interests you, make sure to check back in January where I will share some of my favorite 3D signage ideas!
I have been talking about low-waste wedding decor options on the blog for a while now. Because I value personal details, there isn’t as much that can be reused, but there is still a lot of opportunity to make your wedding decor a little bit environmentally friendly. If that’s something that’s important to you, here are 3 quick ideas :
Choose a medium like mirrors for your signage (instead of acrylic) so that the mirror can be reused after your wedding day.
If you choose acrylic for your welcome sign, consider repurposing it in your home after your wedding.
Choose a wedding calligrapher that offers rentals! That way, your custom pieces and more generic pieces (like table numbers) all look cohesive.
Kristen and Stephen’s wedding was a perfect example of this, but I see it more and more in 2023 wedding trends. Couples are buying less on Amazon, and are instead filling their welcome bags with small, local business goodies. Couples are also choosing charities they love to support and making large donations in lieu of wedding favors. As a small business myself, this FILLS my heart with gratitude. I’m always trying to shop my values too, and I know it’s not always easy so I appreciate those who do!
Fur babies have been making an appearance in my signature cocktail signs for a while now (honestly, they are one of my favorite projects to do!) but in 2023, we are seeing more couples want to include their fur family everywhere. That is all right with me! I love your dogs as much as you do!
I would love to hear from YOU. Are there any 2023 wedding trends you are seeing that you think I missed? Did I mention any trends you are excited to incorporate into YOUR wedding day? If you love personal touches and gorgeous day of details as much as I do, you can learn more about my calligraphy packages here, or head straight to my contact form to book a consultation. I would love to help you bring your vision to life in 2023!
