It’s been a busy summer and fall over here at Write Pretty for Me, but I have been dying to share all of the gorgeous elegant wedding details from Kristen and Stephen’s wedding for what feels like forever now (they got married this past June!). As you scroll through the beautiful wedding photos, I have no doubt you are going to be in love with the details as much as I was, from their soft and classic wedding color palette to the mix of mediums that blended effortlessly into their mansion wedding venue, this was one of my absolute favorites of the season. Keep reading for all of the reasons why!
Before I dive into the gorgeous and elegant wedding details from this spring wedding, I have to share this sweet review from Kristen and Stephen. I love getting to work with couples who value personal details as much as I do, and they were such a joy to work with!
“If you are looking for someone to make your special day even more special, hire Alane today! When planning our wedding, my fiancé and I had a vision of how we wanted everything to look and feel throughout our venue. Getting married in a historic mansion, we wanted our signage to feel like it belonged and coincided with the beauty of the space. In working with Alane, she immediately understood our vision and what we would need to bring that to life.
From colors, to paper types, fonts, frames, etc. – she perfectly designed everything! In addition to making absolutely stunning elements for our wedding, Alane was also an absolute joy to work with.
She was responsive, organized, helpful and constantly checked in with thoughts and ideas on how to make our vision even better than we imagined. She also offers the best service and option to rent items – which was a lifesaver for a couple like us still living in a city apartment who did not want to buy frames, easels, etc. to only throw away after. Alane was truly the best to work with, and I will forever cherish everything she made to make our day so unique and so special for our guests!
One of the things I absolutely adored about working with Kristen and Stephen was how they approached every part of the wedding planning process with intention. From my first conversation with Kristen and Stephen, they were intentional about curating an incredible experience for their guests. The custom wedding welcome bags (with thank-you notes tucked inside) were truly just the beginning. Kristen and Stephen also prioritized working with local and female-owned businesses after understanding the setback COVID had on them over the past two years. They were so incredibly thoughtful and it truly was just icing on the cake to the incredible pieces we created for their wedding day.
For their outdoor wedding ceremony at Parque Ridley Creek, we created custom vow books for them to record and recite their personal vows to each other. For their guests, we created custom ceremony program fans (perfect for warm days!), printed with the ceremony details. We chose high-quality paper and ribbon so these could double as treasured keepsakes for guests to take home with them.
Kristen and Stephen wanted an abundance of florals, but they also made sure to repurpose their wedding flowers and donate them to various community care facilities. They did this through the recycling services of Forget Me Knot Flowers. As someone who also values low-waste wedding options (it’s part of why I started offering rentals to my wedding calligraphy couples!), these two just had my whole heart with how they thought of everything.
Kristen and Stephen had a vision for their wedding day, but wanted advice on how to make sure their elegant decor fit seamlessly into the historical venue they chose. We ended up using a mix of mediums (a wooden welcome sign, an acrylic seating chart, and then handmade paper for smaller signage) but kept the style (and calligraphy!) the same so that their decor remained cohesive, even though each and every piece was unique.
Something I’m incredibly passionate about as a wedding calligrapher is making sure my pieces are as functional as they are pretty. Yes, you want your seating chart to have a wow factor, but you also want to make it easy for your guests to find out where they sit! For Kristen and Stephen’s reception pieces, we chose clear table numbers (on handmade paper inside a gold frame to match with some other smaller signage pieces), place cards with each guest’s name, and menu cards (so their mouths would start watering even before dinner was served). All of these pieces were designed to add to the guest experience, on top of being a part of their wedding decor.
I talked about giving back above with the florals, but their charitable nature didn’t stop there! In lieu of guest favors, they donated to See Spot Rescued, the rescue organization where they adopted their own precious fur babies: Sydney and Harvey. These two were the stars of their custom signature cocktail sign!!
I hope you’ve enjoyed reflecting on this wedding as much as I have. Kristen and Stephen’s wedding has truly given me so much wedding inspiration as I start to work with my 2023 wedding couples! From giving back, being intentional, and executing cohesive and gorgeous wedding designs, I can’t help but feel so excited about what’s to come!
