January 10, 2023
There was so much about Shannon and Michael’s Crossed Keys Estate wedding last summer that I simply adored. As we enter a brand new year (how did that happen?!), I thought this romance-filled wedding day would be the perfect way to kick off 2023. If you have a boho heart like mine, and love personalized details, I know you’re going to love this charming outdoor wedding as much as I did. With mirror wedding signage from my rental collection, gorgeous florals, and a cohesive design I fell absolutely in love with, this was one for the books.
Before I dive in, if you are recently engaged, I just wanted to say a quick welcome! I’m Alane, the Hoboken wedding calligrapher behind the pen here at Write Pretty for Me. I have a ton of wedding ideas and inspiration on my blog, but if you are interested in brainstorming creatively what we can bring to life on your day, you can learn more about my day of wedding details package here or head straight here to contact me directly. Dates are booking quickly for 2023!
I don’t necessarily work with all of my couples to design their wedding stationery, but when I do, it’s an absolute treat. Your wedding invitations truly are the first impression of your wedding day so why not make them count? I knew I couldn’t wait for Shannon and Michael’s wedding from the moment we first started talking about their vision. I love the soft blue color palette they chose for their stunning 5 piece wedding invitation suite. They couldn’t wait to invite their wedding guests to celebrate their Crossed Keys Estate wedding day!
I will ALWAYS recommend a welcome sign (read more about my thoughts on why signage is so important here). Shannon and Michael exchanged vows against a circle arch adorned with beautiful neutral and orange wedding flowers. The natural backdrops at Crossed Keys Estate are always incredible. I absolutely love seeing how full of joy they were as I look back on their wedding photos!
After the wedding ceremony, we moved the welcome sign from the outdoor ceremony to the reception. I love wedding signage that can do double duty! Greeting guests as they arrived for cocktail hour was a champagne stand and an escort card display holding vintage keys. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I love when couples mix and match “traditional” wedding styles. There were parts of Shannon and Michael’s wedding that felt rustic, then boho, and then vintage. It all worked together to create something so stunning and just felt like the two of them.
While I often get the chance to draw and paint for signature cocktail signs (keep scrolling to see Shannon and Michaels!), I had the added bonus of creating something truly special for their guest book! I was able to paint a custom watercolor venue painting, which their guests could sign all around. My favorite part is that this will now be framed in their home! I always have a special place in my heart for pieces that become treasured mementos in a couple’s home and this has to be one of my favorites of all time.

The remaining day of details for Shannon and Michael’s wedding reception came together flawlessly. They wanted a terrarium look for both the card box and their table numbers, with white ink wedding calligraphy that matched their welcome sign (and so many other pieces throughout the day). It was such a joy creating these pieces for Shannon and Michael’s Crossed Keys Estate wedding day and I love how what we created played a role from start to finish.
The last thing about this gorgeous Crossed Keys Estate that I just can’t help gushing over is the fact that their fur baby made an appearance (more than once). Shannon and Michael’s sweet dog Finn was present in more than just their signature cocktail sign. Shannon and Michael hired Smile N Wag NJ to look after Finn on their wedding day and make sure he could attend (for at least a little bit!). He showed up looking like the most handsome stud in his greenery collar!
If you loved this Crossed Keys Estate wedding as much as I did and are currently planning your own day of wedding details, I would love to hear from you!
