I have been over the moon excited to share my next real wedding feature with you on the blog today. Tara and Alex’s wedding was such a joy from start to finish – with fun pops of colors and unique tropical elements we don’t get to play with too often here in New Jersey. Tara and Alex got married at Trump National Golf Course and their wedding was both elegant and deeply personal. I can’t wait to share all of the details with you on the blog today!

Custom Wedding Invitations

I always have so much fun with wedding invitations. After all, they are the first impression your family and friends will have of your wedding day. It’s the first moment they really start to get excited. For Tara and Alex, we wanted something that felt both classic and elegant, but we also added some tropical elements to make it fun! It is possible to have a formal wedding without your wedding day feeling too stuffy or impersonal – trust me.

Creating a Custom Wedding Monogram

When you think of a custom wedding monogram, you might think of your initials in cursive fonts with a formal design. It definitely doesn’t have to be that way though! In fact, you can have a lot of fun with it. For Tara and Alex, we created a modern and tropical design and infused it into many different fun elements of their wedding day. I have always said that you don’t have to stick to one style for your wedding decor. In fact, mixing and matching different aesthetics is one way to make your wedding look and feel like YOU. A custom wedding monogram can also help different elements feel as though they fit together effortlessly.

Fun and Unique Seating Charts!

Next, let’s talk about these fun and unique seating charts! As a wedding calligrapher, I often work on “standard” mediums like acrylic, glass, or even wood. That doesn’t mean I don’t LOVE to work on unique textures and mediums though!

For Tara and Alex’s seating chart, we purchased custom surfboards from Maureen Mac Designs and used those as the basis for the seating chart. Not only was it a great way to bring in some color, it really tied into the fun tropical theme. At the top of the first surfboard, I wrote: “Your Destination Awaits”. From there, we chose to use places like Block Island and Ocean Avenue instead of traditional table numbers. The result was absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to do more fun and unique seating charts in the future!

Table Number Alternatives

Like I mentioned above, Tara and Alex used locations instead of traditional table numbers. It was a beautiful way to share unique parts of their love story with their guests. At each table, I wrote the names of each place directly on the frames and they included photos of the two of them enjoying those locations together! I always love when couples add personal elements to their wedding decor and what better place than where your guests spend the most time? At their table.
