Your wedding day is filled with so much joy and beauty and you’re secretly wishing it could last forever! While you can’t freeze time on the day itself, there are so many wonderful ways for the memories and celebration to live on! Here are some of my favorite ways to repurpose your wedding decor!
Wedding welcome signs are one of my favorite pieces of calligraphy wedding decor to create for your special day! They are the perfect way to warmly welcome your friends and family to your celebration. I’ve helped some of my wonderful couples turn their wedding welcome signs into welcome home signs for to hang at their houses! If you have your welcome sign created on glass or a mirror, it can be easily updated by your calligrapher after your wedding day. You can also use slightly different wording than the traditional “Welcome to Our Wedding” so it easily translates to home decor such as “Welcome to Our Forever” or “Welcome to Our Love Story” that is perfect to hang in your home!
Custom calligraphy wedding invitations are such a beautiful touch for your day! I recommend ordering 10-20 extra wedding invitations just in case – and having one to save and frame is such a special way to memorialize your celebration! Consider including some dried sprigs from your bouquet and creating a beautiful shadow box to hang!
I love fresh flowers and wish they could last forever! Luckily, there are lots of beautiful ways to preserve your wedding bouquet! Preserve your wedding flowers by pressing them, drying them, casting them in wax or resin, or having a painting or embroidery done of them. You can DIY your preservation or ask your florist and other wedding vendors for recommendations of artistic businesses who specialize in this!
Calligraphy seating charts are especially wonderful because they are a beautiful record of the friends and family who joined your celebration. Many of my couples have left their custom calligraphy mirror seating charts as is and hung them in their home, saying that the mirror was too pretty to clean off! Hanging the mirror surrounded by photos from your wedding would be a wonderful way to display this as a keepsake!
Turn your custom cocktail sign into a decorative drink sign for your home bar! Put your wedding cocktail signs on display wherever you have your bar or liquor cabinet set up in your home. This is even more fun if your custom cocktails are named after you (or your furbabies!).
You put so much thought into the details for your reception tables and will often end up with dozens of the same item. My couples have found some amazing ways to reuse their wedding tablescape decor! Votives can hold trinkets and keys around the house and candles can be brought out for date night at home. More elaborate pieces like bird cages make amazing planters for your garden. Picture frames (and the photos in them) can be hung on your walls or gifted to family and friends who played a special part in your day!
Succulents are a popular choice for centerpieces and favors and are low maintenance beauties that will last and look beautiful in your home after your big day! Leftover succulent favors are perfect for the sunny windowsills in your home and will be wonderful little reminders of your wedding day!
If you set the mood at your wedding reception with lighting, there are lots of great ways to reuse this wedding decor! Lanterns hang in your backyard or on your porch for extra lighting on nice nights. Twinkle lights are perfect for holiday decor! And candles can be saved for special date nights or lit anytime you want to recreate some of the magic of your wedding day at home.
When you’re planning the type of guest book you’d like for your wedding, think about how you will look back on this keepsake! Have guests sign a coffee table book or a large sheet of acrylic so that you can always have their love notes on display in your home! It’s so fun to look back at the messages from your family and friends and relive your favorite moments from your wedding.
Wedding place cards and escort cards are perfect for doing double duty as decor and mementos! Calligraphy coasters with your guests’ names make for perfect favors that they are sure to use over and over. Make sure to include favors for yourselves to bring home and cherish long after you say “I do!”.
