One of the questions I get asked most often is, “what tools and resources do you recommend for starting calligraphy?,” so today, I thought I’d share some of my go-to’s and favorite resources for all of your calligraphy and hand-lettering needs!
Aside from creating, my second favorite thing about what I do is being able to share my love of calligraphy with others, which is why I absolutely love engaging with my local community through calligraphy workshops! But, I understand that not everyone has the ability to attend an in-person workshop, so that’s why I created a PDF download of the exact workbook I use in my classes, so that you can learn from anywhere! This workbook covers everything you need to know about brush calligraphy — from how to hold the pen to the lower & upper case alphabets, numbers, and creating the modern calligraphy “bounce.” And guess what! Now through April 14th, you can snag my brush calligraphy workbook for 30% off from my Etsy shop!
Shop the workbook here.
All you have to do is print it out, grab some brush pens and start writing!
Along with my workbook, here are some other books that I’ve found useful on my calligraphy journey:

Once you’ve got your workbook and other books to help guide you, you’ll need some actual pens! Here are links to my favorite brush pens and lettering sets. (I’m loving the pastel colored set of dual brush pens from Tombow for spring projects! )

I always like to keep the following pens in my toolbox for fun projects like homemade cards, color coding my calendar and to-do lists, and inked illustrations.

Once you’re ready to move on to materials other than paper, here are my go-to tools for glass, acrylic and fabric!

So there you have it, friend! From brush calligraphy to pointed pen to lettering on other materials like fabric and glass, these are all of my go-to supplies that I use on both personal and professional projects. If you ever have any questions on anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Happy writing!
