If you were loving the moody fall inspiration as much as I have over the last year, you are going to love Danielle and Dylan’s wedding at Battello. They leaned into a moody, romantic color palette and we created absolute magic together. I can’t wait to share it with you on the blog! From their wedding invitations to their custom wedding reception signage and décor, this fall wedding came together to be everything I had hoped for and then more. As you start to feel inspired to plan your wedding day calligraphy, make sure to get in touch with me here! As I look back and reflect on this incredible wedding day, I’m ready to do it again!
I started working with Danielle and Dylan in the spring of 2020, just after COVID hit. It is safe to say, we had no idea what we were in for back then! They originally hired me to help design their wedding stationery for a fall 2020 wedding, but when things weren’t looking up in the summer, they decided to postpone their larger wedding and opt for a micro wedding in Upstate New York instead. We put their stationery design on hold and instead focused on a few key details to make their micro wedding / mini-mony special. I adored working with them and didn’t want them to feel for a second they were missing out on anything. I created custom vow books to mark the occasion and a leather bridal jacket with her last name and wedding date in stunning white ink on the back. This jacket was one of my favorite projects of 2020!
Last summer, we dove back into their stationery and I worked with them to design a romantic and unique invitation suite. We brought in some elements of the venue (the stunning skyline found at Battello became their invitation liner!) and chose a moody fall color palette of blush and burgundy. This may be one of my favorite color combinations of all time! After a year and a half, I could not have been more thrilled at the way this stationery suite came together.
Once we started working together on their stationery, we quickly started adding day-of pieces for their wedding day. I loved Danielle and Dylan’s vision from the moment I started working with them and I just knew Battello would be the most incredible Jersey City wedding venue to bring everything to life.
Greeting guests as they entered Battello was a white acrylic sign, custom made to announce their “love, laughter and happily ever after”. The couple brought in their love of music with a stunning record guest book, which I always love because I know it will be a piece they cherish forever (compared to a book, which might end up in a box and never looked at again). The black and white contrast of everything only enhanced the moody and romantic atmosphere and guests arrived!
Once guests had arrived, we added pieces that they would seek out first, like their table numbers and custom cocktail signs (who doesn’t make their way to the bar first after they arrive?). We kept the table numbers clean and romantic, with gold ink on white paper and minimalist gold frames. This allowed the stunning and rich floral centerpieces and linens to really shine. At the bar, we added a little personality with their custom cocktail signs complete with hand-drawn illustrations. It was a fun twist on otherwise more classic cocktails!
Danielle and Dylan got married on November 6, 2021 almost exactly a year after their micro wedding on November 5, 2020. As one of my last weddings of the year after an insanely busy 2021 wedding season, it absolutely warmed my heart to see everything come to life for them. The colors were rich, the details were romantic, the vibe was pure magic.
