I am beyond thrilled to be featuring Allie and Chris’ Hoboken wedding at Hudson Table on the blog today for two reasons. First, I love that this sweet Hoboken couple kept their wedding day inside this mile square city that I am so proud to call home. Second, it gives me a chance to share a sample of the beautiful work I’ve been creating with the Love Wed Collective over the past couple of years!
You can learn more about the collective here, but the short version is, Love Wed Collective creates all inclusive elopement and micro wedding packages that include wedding planning, florals, photography & calligraphy. As their in-house calligrapher, I’ve had so much fun with couples looking to plan elopements and micro weddings without sacrificing any of the gorgeous details they’ve been dreaming about for their wedding day. Allie and Chris’ wedding is the absolute PERFECT example of this and I’m so excited to show you how their micro wedding package came to life on this gorgeous Hoboken day!
Allie and Chris are fellow Hoboken locals and I loved connecting with them and learning about their wedding day vision (fun fact, I originally met Allie a few years ago at one of my calligraphy workshops! I loved getting to work with her several years later on her wedding!). Although it’s not uncommon for New Jersey weddings to take place in surrounding areas, I absolutely loved that they kept their entire wedding within our one square mile. For their wedding photos, they headed to colorful Pier 13 for beautiful waterfront wedding photos and strolled through town capturing a few of their favorite places in Hoboken. I absolutely love the summer shots of them against NYC’s skyline and in front of Hoboken’s gorgeous brownstones. Incredible!
If you are looking for a unique Hoboken wedding venue, Hudson Table seriously overdelivered for Allie and Chris (in my humble opinion!). Their rooftop venue was a perfect fit for their intimate guest list – just 80 of their closest family and friends – and the views were simply incredible. Common with micro weddings and restaurant wedding venues, guests sat at their reception seats during the wedding ceremony so we spent a little extra time designing the table décor – more on that next!
Earlier I teased that one of the reasons I love working with Love Wed Collective is because they plan micro weddings that are not “micro” when it comes to details. For Allie and Chris, we used a combination of custom wedding calligraphy signage and my calligraphy rentals. Starting with their wedding welcome sign, we created a custom sign using their own mirror, which is now displayed proudly in their home. For their seating chart, although the calligraphy was custom (obviously!), we used one of the floor mirrors I have in my rental inventory so that they didn’t have to purchase anything extra (but could still enjoy an absolutely jaw-dropping seating chart!).
If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I love mixing mediums in wedding design. As a contrast from the stunning mirror wedding signage, we used handmade paper for the smaller signs in delicate gold frames. The table numbers were rented, but we created custom paper signage for their “cards & photos” table, and their bar sign displaying their spirits, wine, and beers of choice (which is also now re-purposed in their home)! Watching everything come together, I always love to see how effortlessly custom and rental pieces can work hand-in-hand when the calligraphy is the same. If you’re wondering how to make your wedding a little more eco-friendly (and budget-friendly!), choosing a wedding calligrapher who offers rentals is a great start! All in all, Allie and Chris’ Hoboken micro wedding at Hudson Table was an absolute highlight of my 2021 wedding season. If you’re based in Hoboken (or just love this mile square city as much as I do!), I hope these photos have you considering a Hoboken-centric wedding for your own special day. And if you’re dreaming of a small but mighty guest list, I hope you’ll consider working with the Love Wed Collective!
