Over the last couple of years, I have had the chance to be a part of many incredible micro weddings in New Jersey and New York. If you are interested in planning a micro wedding, I am part of the team at Love Wed Collective: a group of top wedding vendors in New Jersey planning city hall wedding, elopement, or micro wedding experiences. If you are considering a 2023 or 2024 wedding, I am excited to share with you a few of my favorite micro wedding venues and restaurant wedding reception locations.
If you have followed along for a while, you know how much I love adding personal touches to each and every wedding – whether it’s large or small. If you are new to my corner of the internet, I am Alane, the creative force behind Write Pretty for Me. I love sharing my passion for sentimental, personal touches through calligraphy. Although my studio is based in Hoboken, New Jersey, I work with couples getting married all across the continental USA. If you have questions or want to chat about adding calligraphy to your day, you can contact me here.
Now, let’s get to the good stuff! One of the top questions I get asked, is where to find micro wedding locations. Although there are traditional wedding venues that accommodate intimate weddings, another popular option is hosting your wedding at a local restaurant. Whether you rent out a private room or the whole restaurant, a restaurant wedding reception can be a great way to not only support local businesses, but also create an incredibly unique experience for your guests. Not to mention, you can count on the food being incredible! As a New Jersey calligrapher, here are a few of my favorite micro wedding venues and restaurant wedding reception locations.
Porta was a popular restaurant wedding venue this year!! If you have a love of pizza (or any Italian cuisine!), this venue offers outdoor seating with an elevated picnic table kind of style. It’s considered the best rooftop patio in Jersey City! They encourage family dining, so intimate weddings feel right at home here.
If you want to find the best of both worlds, consider a restaurant wedding venue that is attached to a hotel. The Rooftop At Exchange Place is a stunning Jersey City wedding venue with the most incredible views. The terrace is over 10,000 square feet, but it’s broken up into both indoor and outdoor spaces to accommodate weddings of all different sizes.
If you are looking for a cozy and casual venue in Jersey City, The Hutton is the perfect bar and grill. Plus if you are getting married in a month with more unpredictable weather, the patio is heated!
Are you and your fiance foodies? Lokal Eatery & Bar is a culinary hub in Jersey City and would make a wonderful and unique restaurant wedding venue. For a unique urban feel next to the Jersey City waterfront, make sure to check out Lokal!
For couples looking for a truly unique micro wedding venue, Skinner’s Loft in Jersey City is worth checking out! It’s moody and romantic, and I love the surprising addition of a chandelier. It definitely feels elevated, in a unique and alternative way.
Corgi is the perfect place to celebrate your wedding day with high quality libations. The tasting room and patio are perfect for some intimate celebrations.
If you are dreaming of an elegant micro wedding by the water, Batello in Jersey City would be a great choice. Unlike many restaurants that have only recently started hosting weddings and private events, Batello has been an award winning restaurant wedding venue in Jersey City since 2014. Enjoy the industrial chic vibes and views of the Manhattan skyline.
Kolo Klub is an artist’s loft turned classy venue in Hoboken, New Jersey. The space is new and has.a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces and is absolutely stunning. The space includes up to 4000 square feet so it’s perfect for weddings between 40-140 guests but can accommodate smaller guest lists as well!
Antique Loft in Hoboken as an unobstructed view of the New York skyline, from the Empire State Building to the Freedom Tower. If you are dreaming of a sunset ceremony, the Antique Loft is the most incredible Hoboken wedding venue. For a seated wedding reception, the Antique Loft hosts up to 90 guests.
Grand Vin Kitchen and Bar has beautiful brick walls, cascading plants, and string lighting making it an absolutely dreamy Hoboken wedding venue. They pride themselves in creating delicious dishes using local ingredients.
Sirenetta just might be one of the top restaurant wedding venues in Hoboken. With a ton of natural light, this seafood and raw bar will give your guests an experience they won’t soon forget. Fun Fact: Sirenetta means “Little Mermaid” in Italian!
Another wedding venue with a view of the New York skyline (can you tell those are my favorite?). Halifax is a local restaurant that prides itself in supporting local farmers, fisherman, and artisans to create some of the finest meals in Hoboken.
This one is kind of just a bonus! If you fancy a destination wedding weekend getaway, I would highly recommend Hasbrouck House in Upstate NY. Hasbrouch House is a stunning 18th century Dutch Colonial Stone Mansion, and recently won “America’s Most Romantic Retreat” by the World Boutique Hotel Awards. Talk about a dream wedding location! As a wedding venue, you’ll feel completely surrounded by nature here and the colors are stunning in the fall.
